OOPSLA day #1 [Oct. 19th, 2008|05:18 pm]

I've had an enjoyable day at my first OOPSLA. I went to the workshop on Virtual Machines and Intermediate Languages which was very enjoyable. I've been meeting new people and had some very satisfying discussions with Dave Thomas (OTI), Jan Vitek, and Matthew Flatt (PLT). I'd hoped Matthew would teach me some multi-language source-level debugging tricks but it sounds like the Schemers take a similar tack to CMUCL. There was a talk about programming FPGAs and the very mention of that subject always whips my brain into a frenzy and then leaves me exhausted.

It's a considerable unicycle back to my accommodation so I'm posting here to fill time until the Lisp dinner while everybody else freshens up :-)
