A while ago, Ron Garrett posted a big text file containing all messages posted to comp.lang.lisp. I extracted some data today: nearly all of Erik Naggum's article sigs. Here are some examples that made me smile:

Looks like LispWorks 6.0 is now available, with a bunch of new features and, at least on Linux, a prettier interface. The personal edition is coming sometime later this year.

In Up, the 30s newspaper clippings in the old house at the start of the film are titled in Verdana. Ugh.

I've got the instruction booklet for NFL 2K1, a football game for the Dreamcast. It came out in 2000, and in the credits it lists Tom Brady as one of the motion capture athletes. I wonder if they have any photos or video from the mocap sessions...

When I was a kid, New Year's Eve was the night I was allowed to stay up as late as I possibly could. We would watch movies and play games and I would try to make it to midnight. I don't remember if I ever did.

Erik, age 4, is getting to do that for the first time tonight. When I asked him how late he would stay up, he said, "Until <deep breath> seven-thirty!!!!"

Shanna has never heard of this tradition. Anyone else aware of it?

We get the cheapest possible TV service from Time Warner, something like $15 a month for 15 or so channels. The day after Christmas I bought a HDTV and figured I'd get the same service - 15 or so analog channels delivered over coax. It was so unappealing that I didn't even bother to try it for a few days. But when I plugged in the cable and did autoprogram, it actually found dozens of DTV channels and now I get all the networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, PBS) in HD. For nothing extra. The football game looked pretty amazing.

Don't pay Time Warner extra for any digital cable. The HDTV is already available.

From the Lispy site, a new subproject:

Lispy Box is a sub-project of the Lispy project which aims to create a Common Lisp library “box” or starter kit similar to LibCL, Lispbox, Lisp in a Box and STARTER-PACK. Lispy Box is distributed as a rolling release (similar to how Ubuntu is released). Each release includes the entire Official map of Common Lisp libraries at the time of the Lispy Box release in one large archive.
